Dear All,

I hope everyone had a great summer! Traditionally we do the Summer Party before people leave for the holidays but this year we have decided it to it when we are sure everyone has the possibility to attend and to offer a warm welcome to Ambassador McDonagh his wife Dr. Ana Grenfell McDonagh and their two daughters.
The party will take place hopefully in the garden (if weather does not permit we will host it inside) on September 6th from 12- 4pm.
I would really appreciate for organizational purposes if you could please let us know if you and your families will attend. If the answer is yes please drop me a mail by Tuesday of next week with how many you will be and let me know your children’s ages.
A good afternoon is promised for all big and small!
A warm welcome to Ambassador McDonagh and his family. Many thanks for your support in allowing us to host this at the embassy.

See you on the 6th,
Warmest Wishes,
Avril

February 25, 2009

Good afternoon everyone!
I just wanted to give you all a little update on where we are at the moment and what exciting things lie ahead for us even in these difficult times. We had a very enjoyable breakfast this morning and many thanks to all who spoke and came. We talked about upcoming events and decisions over charities chosen for this year.

March Events

17th - Irish Film Festival premiere - www.irishfilm.ru the organizers are Johnny O Reilly and Gerald McCarthy. This is their second year and the line up is amazing.

19th - John Field concert at the Glinka performed by Michael O Rourke - tickets are limited but if you are interested please contact Peter O Connor by mail by COB tomorrow.

20th - Reception at the Irish Embassy- invitation to follow.

21st - Emerald Ball Marriot Grand Hotel - attended by the Lord Mayor of Dublin - tickets are all sold out.

The beneficiaries of the monies raised will be the Guide Dogs and Preodolenie L.
I would appreciate if those of you who are attending could give us some feedback: two paintings have been commissioned and the artists are quite famous- Oleg Nefedkin  www.nefedkin.ru is one of them - should we run an auction? - could we run a silent auction or should we just have a raffle? - comments please.

22nd - Parade on the Novy Arbat and the Lord Mayor of Dublin and Moscow will attend. Special thanks to Gerry McCarthy for all his help with the PR for the parade.
Lastly I want to thank all the committee for all the hard work and effort that has gone in and will continue to make these events as enjoyable and positive as always.
Caroline, Mike Hogan, Mike Hennessy, Mike O Connor, Peter O Connor, Tony Watkins and Jerry - thank you for all your support and time.
Mike Hennessy has agreed to take over as Co-Chair replacing Shawn McCormick and a big thank you to him!
Any suggestions /questions are always welcome and needed!

November 6, 2008

Dear All,
We have received confirmation on the Ball for 2009 - it will take place at the Marriot Grand on March 21st. The Lord Mayor of Dublin will be our visiting guest from Ireland. Priority will be given to paid up members. There will be 29 tables available the choice is to have 10 or 12 on your table.
Please let me know if you need a table and for how many and if you have not paid membership then you will be put on a waiting list.
Last year we had some problems with sound in the room this will not happen this year and again those who book and pay will get priority on the floor plan.
We will be collecting the money in December and January in order to pay the hotel.
This year the tickets will cost 4000 rubles each.
We had many learning’s from last year and we will do our best to make it the best night entertainment of the year. Please feel free to give us your comments and we will be happy to accommodate as much as we can,

Warmest Wishes,
Avril

October 9, 2008

Dear All,
The elections have been completed and I would like to thank those of you who voted for your positive support.
The committee remains the same as last year with one addition Caroline Pierce who has always supported us in the background nonetheless. Caroline will act as events coordinator. I would like to thank Gerald Rohan for organizing all of this.

The reason I am writing today is to ask for two things

  1. Do you want us to continue writing to you? - if not please let me know and I will take you off the list.
  2. It is time for us to start collecting dues and Natalia Chvankina has agreed to help us with this the dues are 3500rbls per person and please contact Natalia directly if you wish to renew your membership.

We will have very many activities coming up and a series of business breakfasts are also planned we will send an invitation later but the proposed date is November 19th. It may seem far away but we are already preparing for the Irish Ball which will be held on the 21st of March 2009. I think it is important to let you all know without membership you will not get priority when booking tables. (I hate to sound pushy and strict, sorry)
We would also like to start a children’s club once a month to play Irish games and read Irish folklore.
We will send out more information to you about the above very shortly.
I would really appreciate if we can provide our dues to Natalia in the near future.(I promise to do so myself!)

Again I would like to thank you all for your support and really we depend on your continued support.
Warmest Wishes,
Avril

PS- If you notice that I may have missed someone from this list I would really appreciate if you could forward it on and also please feel free to pass it on to your friends if you feel it may be of interest to them.

December 1, 2007

We can now confirm the price of the tickets for the Irish Ball on March 15th 2008- they will cost 4500 rubles each. We need to organize payment for the hotel so I would appreciate confirmation on your tickets and a date when we can collect the money. This year there are 2 ways to pay:

  • Cash
  • Direct to the charity

When you confirm with me we can work out what works the best for you. Michael will provide all of you with receipts of payment. I would appreciate payment before we go away for the Christmas break. Can you please confirm once again the number of tickets you need- remember priority goes too paid up members of the Irish Club.

We do guarantee a great nights entertainment and we want to make as much money as possible for our charities. We did a fantastic job last year thank you to you all so lets try and double it this year.

Can I have your replies before the 15th if December.

Warm wishes,

Avril
